To improve the province’s transportation network, Hwy. 400 is being widened in both directions, approximately 11km, along a stretch that passes through Vaughan and King Township. In order to widen the thoroughfare, there are a number of bridges and overpasses that have been or need to be rehabilitated or replaced. The existing King-Vaughan Road Bridge was constructed in 1960, rehabilitated in 1993 and demolished in 2018. The new bridge has 12 CPCI 1600 girders, supplied by DECAST, which were erected between 11pm and 2am during two nights in July 2019. Hwy. 400 will be eight lanes across, with High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes in each direction - with plans for future expansion to 10 lanes.
