Major Mackenzie Culvert Replacement & Pedestrian Tunnel

York Region required to replace a culvert located on Major Mackenzie Drive West, just east of McNaughton Road and Avro Road. The existing culvert was built in 1968 and was made out of steel pipe. It was replaced with a stronger, longer lasting precast culvert design. A pedestrian and cycling-friendly underpass was constructed next to the new culvert to allow for future travel underneath the roadway, support the City's trail system network and encourage active transportation in the community. Additionally, a new watermain connection, likely to be supplied by DECAST, will be installed to support the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital.
